We must all comply with the law. By completing the course registration, you are certifying that you are not restricted or barred from owning, possessing, or handling firearms by any local, county, state or federal jurisdiction or agency and are able and willing to comply with all safe gun handling instructions.
Satisfactory completion of this course meets the requirements as established by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (“DCJS”) and the Division of State Police (“DSP”) when applying for a concealed carry firearm license. To satisfy all of the training requirements set forth in New York Penal Law § 400.00, concealed carry firearm safety training must include 16 hours of in-person live classroom instruction and 2 hours of live-fire training conducted by a Duly Authorized Instructor.
This course is offered in 5 training modules that can be completed in 2 or 3 days. Course modules are taught by NRA Certified/NYS Duly Authorized Instructors.
The course registration fee includes all of the required training course materials and instruction needed to apply for your NYS Concealed Carry Firearm License*. We provide all the guns, holsters, belts, safety glasses, ammunition, targets, and class materials at no extra cost to you.
* Certain counties within New York State have additional training requirements and may restrict the instructor that you can use. It is your responsibility to check with your county as to who is approved to teach their firearm license applicants before you register for this course. We are approved instructors for Westchester, Delaware, Sullivan, Ulster, and Orange Counties.
MINIMUM COURSE LENGTH: 16 Hours in-person classroom AND 2 hours live-fire training
COURSE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:
A) Minimum age: 21 years or older
B) By submitting and paying for the course registration, students are certifying that they are not restricted or barred from owning, possessing, or handling firearms by any local, county, state or federal jurisdiction or agency and are able and willing to comply with all safe gun handling instructions.
C) Students must possess and present a photo ID (driver’s license or other government issued document) for age and identity confirmation prior to start of course.
COURSE COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS:
A) Students need to personally attend ALL five (1-5) of the course modules in order to apply for a concealed carry pistol permit/license to carry.
B) Students need to pass the written proficiency test with a minimum correct answer score of 80% AND must pass the Live-fire proficiency assessment in order to receive the 18-hour certificate of completion.
COURSE FEE: $350** pre-paid registration fee per person and includes all handouts and the use of SITC, LLC training equipment for skills and range qualifications. **Registration and payments are processed by the USCCA (United States Concealed Carry Association) website.
COURSE CANCELLATION and LATE ARRIVAL POLICY:
A) SITC, LLC reserves the right to cancel any courses for reasons such as instructor illness, adverse weather, or low enrollment with no cancellation fee to be incurred by the registered participants. All registered participants will be notified of the course cancellation via the email address and telephone number provided during the registration process.
B) Registered students arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time of each course module will not be admitted into the classroom for that course module and will need to call the office to register to attend the course module on another day.
COURSE REGISTRATION FEE REFUND POLICY:
A) Cancellations within 1-10 business days prior to the start day of a course are subject to a $25 cancellation fee.
B) Cancellations on or after the course start date will receive no refund of the registration fee.
C) No Shows will receive no refund of course fees.
Things to bring to the class: government issued photo ID, pen, and a notebook or paper to take notes on. You will be provided with handouts containing information covered during the class.
If you are already permitted/licensed to carry your own personal pistol or revolver for training purposes in the State of New York and you choose to bring a pistol or revolver to the course, it MUST be UNLOADED (chamber, magazines, and/or cylinders MUST be empty). Live ammunition is NOT permitted at any time in the classroom. All firearms will be checked at the door to be sure that there is no live ammunition in the chamber, magazines, and/or cylinders. You will not be allowed to use your own personal handgun for the live-fire proficiency assessment.
You will be provided with a class completion certificate at the end of the live-fire proficiency assessment if you have passed both the written proficiency exam AND live-fire proficiency assessment. You must personally attend all of the sessions, pass the written proficiency test, and pass the live-fire proficiency test in order to receive the completion certificate.
Classroom and live-fire training are both taught at the Forestburg Scout Reservation located at 1945 State Route 42, Forestburgh, NY 12777. The class will meet at the welcome center building. Live-fire proficiency assessment is held at an outdoor range- rain or shine. Please be sure to wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.
